John Ronald Craigie Aitchison CBE RSA RA

Craigie Aitchison was a Scottish painter known for his numerous paintings of the Crucifixion, including one displayed behind the altar in the chapter house of Liverpool Cathedral. He also painted Italian landscapes and portraits, often featuring black men or dogs. His simple style, characterized by bright, childlike colors, was difficult to categorize and has been compared to the Scottish Colourists, primitivists, or naive artists.
